Prospective students interested in these research areas should contact Prof. Ruvolo directly by email. Students interested in two new directions in our lab - the evolution of genetic pathways and the evolution of genes related to cancer - are also encouraged to apply. Admitted students tend to have strong backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, and computational biology and in the life sciences generally. Graduate students in the Ruvolo lab will be expected to take courses in population genetics and in bioinformatics in addition to the usual HEB graduate courses.
