The overarching goal of my research is to better understand the factors responsible for shaping human anatomy and physiology. These include evolutionary pressures faced by our ancient ancestors as well as aspects of our individual lifestyles such as physical activity patterns and nutrition. I am particularly drawn to questions that lie at the interface between human evolutionary biology and medicine, especially those related to diseases that appear to stem from deleterious interactions between our evolutionary heritage and modern environments.
