Humans have evolved remarkable feet that enable our unique form of bipedalism, but the different roles that muscles and ligamentous tissues play in controlling our foot function during locomotion remain poorly understood. To figure out how and why our feet became the way they are, we use advanced motion capture and electromyography to investigate the biomechanics of the human foot during walking and running.
