SUMMARY:HEB Fall 2026 Colloquium Series: Dr. James Noonan
DESCRIPTION:
The first HEB Colloquium of the semester is with guest speaker Dr. James Noonan, Albert E. Kent Professor of Genetics and Professor of Neuroscience, Yale School of Medicine.

Talk Title: Understanding the genetic drivers of uniquely human traits

Abstract: The advent of rapid genome editing technologies, coupled with high-throughput genomic assays, has revolutionized our ability to understand how genetic variation alters gene expression to influence human traits. I will discuss recent work in our laboratory that uses genetically modified mouse models, comparative models of primate neurodevelopment and CRISPR screening technologies to discover and characterize gene regulatory mechanisms implicated in human evolution.
