Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, M.D., Ph.D., is a cardiologist and evolutionary biologist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, Harvard University’s Department of Human Evolutionary Biology, and UCLA School of Medicine. She serves as chair of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Board on Animal Health Sciences, Conservation, and Research (BAHSCR) and is a past president of the International Society for Evolution, Medicine and Public Health. In 2012, her book Zoobiquity (co-authored with K. Bowers) was selected as a Finalist in the American Association for the Advancement of Science Prize for Excellence in Science Books and was a *New York Times* bestseller. Her most recent book, *Wildhood*, was selected as Book of the Year by the Association of Science Education and was a *New York Times* Book Review Editor's Pick. In her research, writing, courses, and conferences, Dr. Natterson-Horowitz makes the case that evolved adaptations in the natural world are a source of biomedical insight that can accelerate discovery and innovation.
