Humans evolved to live very differently than many of us do today. Humans evolved to run and dance and be active, not wither away slouched in front of computers and TVs. Humans evolved to eat fresh, nutritious plants and animals, not mindlessly fill our bellies with hyper-processed trash from vending machines. Humans evolved to have dirt under their fingernails, and enjoy feeling the sun on their skin and the morning dew on their bare feet, not carry around bottles of hand sanitizer or hide our bodies from the elements of nature.

Much of my current research focuses on how mismatches like these, between how humans evolved to live and how people choose to live today, underlie why so many of us get sick from diseases that our ancient ancestors managed to avoid.
