Dr Miguel Gareta Garcia did his masters in Conservation and Evolution at the University of Valencia in Spain and completed his PhD at the University of Neuchâtel under the supervision of Prof. Redouan Bshary. He studied female vervet monkeys' social behaviour around grooming and experimental setups in South Africa. As a Post-doc, he investigated group fissions with Prof. Erica van de Waal at the University of Lausanne. He joined the laboratory of Prof. Martin Surbeck at the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University with a Mind Brain and Behavior scholarship in November 2022. He aims to understand better the structural aspects and consequences of cooperation involving grooming and food sharing around between-group encounters in wild bonobos at the Kokolopori Bonobo Research Project in DRC.
