Harald Ringbauer is currently a Group Leader in the Department of Archaeogenetics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. He received his PhD in Population Genetics from IST Austria, and then worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Chicago and Harvard University, where he dvelved into Human Genetics, Ancient DNA and Computational Genomics. His primary research focus revolves around past human demography and social structure. Particularly, he has created a new generation of computational tools designed to measure biological relatedness in ancient DNA datasets with unprecedented precision, revealing new insights both on a small scale, relevant to understanding the life stories of past people, and on the macroscale, relevant to large-scale cultural-historical events.
