I am an archaeologist and geochemist who explores the role of fire in human evolution by combining proxies, concepts, and methods from various disciplines with archaeological data. I am particularly interested in the relationship between hominins, (natural) fire, and the environment, and how this may have shaped different aspects of our lineage. At HEB I work on tracing changes through time by applying biomarker geochemistry to Pleistocene sediments from key archaeological sites in Europe.
