Silvio Ernesto Mirabal Torres

I am a doctoral candidate interested in how social and environmental conditions become biologically embedded across the life course and contribute to variation in health. My research spans questions of early-life environments, stress physiology, and the social determinants of health, with a particular interest in how experiences across different stages of life shape later outcomes within a DOHaD framework. My dissertation research focuses on stress, health, and resilience among Cuban immigrants, examining how early-life adversity, migration, acculturation, and discrimination intersect to shape health. Building on these interests, I use a community-based, mixed-methods approach integrating social, ethnographic, and biological data to understand how sociocultural environments influence psychosocial and physiological stress.
